We’re working with the Canal and Rivers Trust on an ambitious project to create England’s first ever coast to coast canoe trail. We’ve campaigned to make sure that Bootle is the flagship stop-off on this new trail, meaning that people using the canal will be encouraged to take a break from their canoeing, boating or water sports and explore the local area.
A new Bootle Marina is being built in the former Carolina Basin which will provide storage, mooring and changing facilities for canal users.
We will provide:
Storage for canoes and other equipment
Moorings for barges and other boats
Changing facilities for canal users
Information and advice for visitors and schools
This will mean:
More visitors to the local area
More local people able to use the canal
Better maintenance of the canal
Improved habitats for canal wildlife
